In Vitro Fertilization or IVF in India is a term most people have heard about today. However, the story was a different one a few decades ago. Due to the hard work and success of eminent doctors like Dr. Sunita Tandulwadkar, Chief IVF Consultant and Endoscopist at Ruby Hall Clinic, IVF has become a well-known procedure in Pune.

IVF can create joy and happiness in the form of a child, to complete the lives of those who are unable to fulfill their dream naturally. After consultation with Dr. Sunita Tandulwadkar and her team, you might find that you are eligible for IVF in India.

Let’s have a look at a few important things that you should know about the procedure:

What is IVF?

IVF is one of the Assisted Reproduction Technologies (ART) in which eggs and sperm are combined outside the body, in a laboratory culture dish. The medical procedure gets its name because fertilization takes place “in vitro” which means “outside the body”.

What does IVF involve?

At Ruby Hall Clinic, under the expert eyes of Dr. Sunita Tandulwadkar, IVF is completed in a step-by-step procedure:

  • The female partner is medically stimulated so that more than one egg is produced at a time.
  • These eggs are allowed to mature. When most of them reach maturity stage, an Ovum Pick-Up (OPU) appointment is scheduled.
  • During the OPU, the female partner is sedated and the mature eggs are retrieved. This day care procedure is completed by experts, and care is taken to ensure that the patient does not undergo any discomfort.
  • IVF is done by introducing washed sperms to the eggs, which have been cultured for 3-4 hours. Only a certain number of sperms are released in this in vitro procedure and fertilization is allowed to occur naturally.
  • After the embryos are created, they are incubated for two to five days. The most viable one or two of these embryos are then transferred to the uterus of the female partner, where implantation takes place.

Each of these steps requires specialized equipment and expertise. The state-of-the-art IVF-Endoscopy Center at Ruby Hall Clinic is one of the premiere centers for IVF in India. Established by Dr. Sunita Tandulwadkar in 2002, this center has gained plenty of accolades and a sterling reputation in a short while. It also holds the honor of being the first center in the world to develop Blastocyst within 6 months of its set-up, thanks to the dedicated efforts and brilliance of Dr. Tandulwadkar.
